Numerous important details remain to be worked out, but board members are likely to approve a resolution early next month endorsing steps to determine whether a joint venture with Partnerships British Columbia can be reached to rebuild or refurbish the county’s 103-year-old downtown courthouse.
“The advantage of this approach is that it can save considerable amounts of time and money,” said Commissioner Judy Shiprack, who, with Commissioner Deborah Kafoury, has spent the past two years leading an effort to replace a structure that would likely collapse in a big earthquake. “It only makes sense to at least pursue this.”
