Hillsboro-based clinic chain ZoomCare is continuing its rapid expansion with a new branch in Boise, Idaho.

Started in 2006 and stressing a mix of customer service and low overhead, the firm markets itself to customers with insurance or cash; Medicare and Medicaid are not accepted. Customers can book an appointment online.

Though the trend of retail clinics has been likened by some to fast-food medicine, the ZoomCare formula has led to rapid growth. The company operates 12 clinics in Oregon and one in Seattle and recently announced plans to open six new clinics split between the two states. So successful has it been that Cambia Health Solutions, the umbrella company for Regence BlueCross BlueShield, founded a competing effort called Sprig Health.
