Ninkasi Brewing broke ground on a major expansion of the Eugene brewery that will be completed in late 2013 and triple the company’s output capacity.

The $16 million expansion is set for completion late next year. It will include a 78,000 square foot warehouse and cold storage local distribution facility and 28,000 square feet of office space that will have a pilot brewing system for education and experimentation — both at 135 Blair Blvd. It also will include an expanded 26,000-square-foot production brewing facility located next door at 220 Blair Blvd.

With the new expansion will come 20 new jobs by the beginning of 2014, marketing director James Book said. As the company continues to grow in the upcoming years, more jobs will be possible, he said.
