Royal Caribbean is adding 140 jobs at its Springfield call center, with plans to add more jobs soon.

Now with 522 employees, the Springfield facility is hiring for 140 positions, and it is planning to reach the 900-employee level in the next few years, said Rita Stolze, director of trade support and service.

That growth will happen through hiring as business increases, as well as by moving some jobs from the cruise line’s other U.S. call centers to Springfield, she said.

“Over the next two to three years … our intention is to try to fill this facility,” Stolze said, referring to the 168,000-square-foot building that Royal Caribbean owns near Interstate 5 in Springfield’s Gateway area. “It’s incremental — little by little, and I think by the first of (next) year we should be over 600.”
