Gov. John Kitzhaber joined opponents of a proposed casino near Portland.

The governor, who has long opposed expansion of gambling in Oregon, is scheduled to film a campaign ad urging voters to reject Measures 82 and 83. The two initiatives would allow for non-tribal casinos in the state, and site one at the former greyhound racing track in Wood Village.

“He feels strongly about this,” said Tim Raphael, Kitzhaber’s spokesman. “Among other issues, he strongly opposes breaking our promise with tribal governments.”
