Home prices in the Portland area and in many other U.S. metros rose again in July.

Portland-area prices rose 3.18 percent in July compared with the same month a year earlier, according to a new month of data from the S&P/Case-Shiller home price index released Tuesday.

It’s a a third consecutive month of gains for the metro. The last time prices posted a larger year-over-year increase was July 2007.
