Communications chips from Hillsboro-based TriQuint Semiconductor are again in the iPhone 5.
Apple contractor Foxconn provides more than a third of TriQuint’s sales and the company’s fortunes rise — and ebb — based to a large degree on how well it does in Apple’s devices. But investors were pessimistic ahead of the teardown — TriQuint stock dropped 4 percent today.
TriQuint’s financial results were disappointing in the first half of the year: After Apple reported relatively slow sales as the iPhone 4S aged, TriQuint’s sales fell 22 percent in the second quarter and it slipped into the red for the first time since 2009.
