An official smoking ban kicks in this week at the University of Oregon and Oregon State University.
In the fall of 2010, the UO said, it became the first Pac-12 institution to announce intentions to become a smoke- and tobacco-free university. OSU did so about the same time. Both schools decided to reduce the risks of second-hand smoke exposure and to provide a healthier environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors, the universities have said.
