Kitzhaber names former Republican lawmaker to OLCC


Gov. John Kitzhaber has offered up former Republican lawmaker Rob Patridge to be the newest Oregon Liquor Control Commission member, part of an effort to get rid of longtime director Steve Pharo.

Gov. John Kitzhaber has offered up former Republican lawmaker Rob Patridge to be the newest Oregon Liquor Control Commission member, part of an effort to get rid of longtime director Steve Pharo.

Kitzhaber asked Pharo to resign months ago, but he refused. An effort by the OLCC’s five-member governing board to fire Pharo also failed when it became clear it was one vote short. Rob Patridge, who served three terms in the House, could provide the needed third vote.

“Certainly Rob and the other commissioners are well aware of the governor’s concerns about the leadership of the OLCC,” said Kitzhaber spokesman Tim Raphael.
