The U.S. Marine Corps placed a $29 million order for Lacrosse Footwear-owned Danner boots.

This would be the largest military order ever for the Portland-based company that sells boots to multiple branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, as well as to public safety agencies. Danner anticipates fulfilling the new order in multiple deliveries over the next several quarters.

The boots will be made at the Danner factory, located east of Portland International Airport. The “RAT” is constructed with full-grain leather and tear resistant 1000 Denier nylon along with Vibram-brand outsole. The waterproof boot has a Gore-Tex-brand lining and features a moisture wicking lining with quick draining vent holes.
