Home prices turned upward in Portland and across the country in April, remaining below levels seen a year earlier but adding to hopes the worst — that would be just a month earlier — is behind us.
The Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller home price index showed U.S. home prices were 1.3 percent higher in April than in March, but remain 1.9 percent lower than a year earlier. In the metro area, prices increased 2 percent for the month, but have fallen 0.9 percent compared with the same month a year earlier.
