Consumer Cellular has agreed to take over T-Mobile’s Redmond call center, saving it from an impending closure.

T-Mobile announced plans to shutter the facility in March, after its planned $39 billion merger with AT&T fell apart. The company planned to lay off 359 workers in Redmond on June 22, along with 1,900 jobs at call centers nationwide.

Consumer Cellular, which had been planning to expand an existing call center in Phoenix, switched plans after reading about T-Mobile’s decision and decided to move into Redmond.
