Consumer Cellular is growing employment at its Redmond call center, essentially offsetting all the jobs lost when T-Mobile left the facility last year.

T-Mobile eliminated 359 jobs when it closed its Redmond facility. Consumer Cellular stepped in and leased the call center, employing fewer than 100 initially. But the work force has grown rapidly, forestalling a hit to the Central Oregon economy.

Employment at the call center has climbed to 240 and the company expects that number to reach 350 by the end of the year.
