Oregon experienced a record year for film and television production with over $130 million spent in the state.

The effects of this growing industry aren’t just felt in the Portland-Metro area. Businesses in southern Oregon and even on the coast are seeing a positive impact.

Take the show “Grimm,” for example, which is kicking off filming of its second season Wednesday in Portland. Last year the production employed more than 550 local workers, including everything from carpenters, who constructed the sets, to people who supplied plants on the show. Even trainers who work with animals for the show are all locally sourced.
