Local film pro proposes waterfront film studio


Portland film-industry vet Katherine Wilson, known for her work on Animal House and Stand By Me, told city officials they should lease the $13.5-million terminal as a full-service film studio.

She’s proposing the city put the property into a land trust and lease it out as a film studio. Wilson said the film industry brings about $130 million each year to Portland.

In Wilson’s eyes, the state-of-the-art facility would include sound stages and about 70,000 square feet of production space, with 20,000 square feet for special sound stages, editing, screening rooms and scoring stages. Wilson would also want to relocate old Portland buildings to Terminal 1.
