IKEA powered up a rooftop solar power system on top of its Portland store, made up of 2,072 panels.

It’s the 16th Ikea store in the country to switch on solar power. The chain has a goal of putting solar on 85 percent of its stores with a total generation of 30.8 megawatts.

The electricity generated on the Portland store’s rooftop will be consumed on site. Spokeswoman April Minister said the company would not disclose the amount invested in the array or the percentage of its consumed power that will come from solar generation.
