Portland-based startup Chirpify provides a way to process sales through Twitter.
The company launched to the public last month and has already completed a couple thousand transactions contained in tweets, the 140-character messages people exchange on Twitter. [Founder Chris Teso] hired his first employee, an engineer to help expand the company. Chirpify’s own Twitter feed has attracted more than 3,650 followers.
It works by linking customers’ Twitter and Paypal accounts. When they authorize a payment, Chirpify steps in to complete the transaction. Teso’s developed a three-step fee structure that targets retailers, campaigns and people simply looking to buy their buddy a beer.
