A crowd of nearly 175 waited in line at Pioneer Place Mall in downtown Portland an hour before Apple was set to release their newest iPad.

Some, like Alex Warren of Portland, had camped out since 3 p.m. Thursday. Others, like Clint Kaiser of Hillsboro, had arrived shortly before 6 a.m., when the doors of the mall opened.

Fans say the new iPad has a faster processor, sharper resolution and a better camera than previous models. A more expensive version can also able tap into cellular networks. Unlike earlier versions, the company isn’t attaching a number to its latest release, instead calling it simply the new iPad.
