Flir reports increased earnings despite lower sales

Flir Systems said its fourth-quarter earnings increased 9%, despite sales that declined 7%.

 

The Wilsonville-based maker of heat-sensing devices reported net earnings of $76.1 million, or 49 cents a diluted share, on sales of $405.2 million for the quarter ended Dec. 31. That compares to net earnings of $69.8 million, or 44 cents a share, on sales of $437.5 million during the same period a year ago. 

Analysts had expected, on average, earnings of 45 cents a share, according to a Thomson Reuters survey.
