With the start of 2012, Oregon’s minimum wage increased 30 cents to $8.80.

 

Powderhorn Cafe in Grants Pass employs 10 people, approximately seven of those employees are on a minimum wage salary. The twenty-five year business has seen its share of minimum wage increases. While other businesses say they will have to cut down hours or keep staffing to a minimum, Powderhorn says they are the lucky few who do not anticipate any changes.

Oregon is only one of 18 states plus the district of Columbia that have a minimum wage above the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour and is the second highest in the nation.
