As a result of deflation due to the weak economy, Oregon’s minimum wage is expected to stay at $8.40 an hour next year.
It’s the first time the mandatory minimum has not climbed since 2002, when Oregon voters approved a ballot measure that raised the state’s minimum wage, then tied additional increases to inflation.
The measure did not include a provision for cutting the minimum wage when prices fall.
