While the Southwest Oregon Regional Airport is looking to add bigger planes to its flights, that also means building bigger runways – which historically creates issues for the airport.

Timm Slater, executive director of the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, said airport officials could expect to deal with multiple federal and state agencies to mitigate any environmental concerns. Any impact to estuaries is a particularly sensitive issue, he said.
