Forbes somehow selected Bend as the sevent most business-friendly city in the nation, even though unemployment there hovers at 14.6 percent and business owners there have voiced frustrations to the chamber of commerce.

Officials from the Bend Chamber of Commerce say the honor of being recognized is a positive thing, but there’s still plenty of work to do.

“It’s not that we’re there yet,” said Tim Casey, the chamber’s executive director. “We’ve got a lot of work to do before we bring back a vibrant Bend, and unemployment is one we’ve got to tackle.”
