No surprise given the U.S. real estate collapse: 2008 home sales volumes fell more than 40% in the Willamette Valley and 60% in Central Oregon versus record heights attained in 2005 and 2006, while Portland metro closed sales slipped 32%. Median home values also turned south in ’08: -4% in Portland, -14% in Central Oregon and -3% in the Willamette Valley from the peaks of 2007, as nationwide values dropped 6% and 10%, respecively, for new and existing homes.
