t_cover0807 PORTLAND Oregon Business magazine has won six awards for outstanding work from the Oregon/Southwest Washington Professional Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

In the nondaily category of the 2007 awards, the magazine took first place for business news for managing editor Abraham Hyatt’s story on troubled wave-energy projects on Oregon’s coast. Editor Robin Doussard won a first place for environmental reporting for an examination of Oregon’s neglect in managing its water supply.

Art director Jon Ferland received a second place for feature photo layout, and Hyatt received second place in the business feature category for his story that examined the rising post-casino economic success of the state’s federally recognized Indian tribes.

The magazine staff placed third for general excellence and Doussard received a third place for column writing.
