Brammo Inc. won a “Best of What’s New” award from Popular Science magazine for the Empulse electric sport motorcycle.

The Empulse, which won in the automotive category alongside innovations from the likes of Ferrari, Porsche and Audi, was designed in Ashland.

While Brammo is partnering with Flextronics on manufacturing of its Enertia motorcycle in Hungary, the Empulse will, at least initially, be manufactured in Ashland.

Brammo said the company has received close to 2,000 pre-orders for the Empulse, which is priced starting at $9,995 before incentives. The highest-end model, at $13,995, claims speeds of 100 miles per hour and a range of 100 miles on a single charge.
