Help for auto dealers

The Oregon House has passed an amended bill that will protect inventories and extend rights for auto dealers who have lost their franchises. The bill goes on to Gov. Ted Kulongoski for his signature.

Auto dealers who have lost their franchises would get additional rights, including the first right to get a new franchise or go to court, under a bill headed for Gov. Ted Kulongoski.

Amended House Bill 2739, which the House cleared on a 59-0 vote Tuesday, extends Oregon’s law governing auto-dealer franchises that was enacted in 1980. It also offers some protection for inventories of dealers losing franchises.
