Pendleton Round-up and Pendleton Woolen Mills are embroiled in a trademark battle over a men’s perfume.

The nonprofit, all-volunteer Pendleton Round-Up Association stands accused of trademark infringement, unfair competition and deceptive trade practices, among other complaints, in a lawsuit brought by the Woolen Mills in U.S. District Court in Portland. 

Triggering the suit is a product no self-respecting working cowboy would have bought in the rodeo’s early years. A men’s perfume called “Let ‘er Buck vintage cologne spray,” manufactured by Western Crossings LLC, sells for $69 for 3.4 ounces and includes the Pendleton Round-Up name on the package.
