Plans to build an Oregon City mall anchored by Cabela’s, a premier sporting goods retailer, appear to be dead — again.

 

Negotiations between the developer, CenterCal and Park Place Development, which owns the former landfill are at a standstill.

If CenterCal doesn’t control the site, the city won’t provide more than $17 million in urban renewal money. CenterCal wants public assistance to offset the extra expense of building on the old garbage dump.

It’s the second time CenterCal officially backed away from the project.
