Portland tech startup Second Porch sold to Austin-based HomeAway for an undisclosed sum.

Second Porch will continue to operate in Portland and retain its five employees.

Exits for Oregon tech companies are exceedingly rare, so Wednesday was extraordinary in that two notable deals were announced the same morning. The other was Tripwire’s sale to private equity firm Thoma Bravo.

Second Porch is vastly smaller; the value of its deal is likely in the millions of dollars, instead of the hundreds of millions that Tripwire fetched.

But Second Porch’s deal is significant because it’s a quick, successful exit by a young Portland software company that tapped homegrown resources to launch and fund its business, and engineer its sale.
