Lattice Semiconductor Corp.’s new CEO says he wants to focus more on the company’s Hillsboro Headquarters rather than continue the shifting of jobs to Asia.

Incoming CEO Darin Billerbeck was hired in October after former CEO Bruno Guilmart left unexpectedly in August.

Under Guilmart, Lattice — like many other tech companies — shifted more resources to Asia, both to save money and to move closer to the tech industry’s supply chain. He cut Oregon jobs to save cash, added overseas executives and suggested the role of Lattice’s headquarters might continue diminishing.

But Billerbeck said Lattice needs to innovate, and he said he would prefer to manage that effort in Hillsboro rather than spread it across the globe.

Roughly 250 of Lattice’s 700 employees work in its Hillsboro headquarters.

“My sense is we will grow this site, not shrink it,” Billerbeck said. “Now,” he added, “we may change it.”
