Mayor Charlie Hales delivers final State of the City speech


Portland Mayor Charlie Hales lauded business and public policy success and called for growth in housing affordability and climate change in his final State of the City speech Friday in downtown.

In a section on opportunities for the city, Hales called for “equitable access to our city’s resources and economic opportunities” as well as the city to “carry out our housing agenda so we have enough affordable housing and homeless shelters for everyone, so sleeping outside won’t be a terrifying reality for anyone.”

…As Portland prepares to boost its minimum wage, Hales praised four companies — Ruby Receptionists, Grand Central Bakery, ¿Por Que No?, New Seasons — that have done so already.
