City Attorney Trace Reeve wants to partner with other West Coast cities in a suit against the multinational agrochemical company.
Reeve’s office Thursday announced she hopes to sue the controversial pesticide and weedkiller maker for pollution in the Columbia Slough and Willamette River.
The funds potentially gained through the lawsuit would cover costs Portland has spent investigating polychlorinated biphenyls, or PCBs, manufactured by Monsanto. Those carcinogens have been found in both waterways, according to an email from Reeve’s office.
