If you’re moving, your destination is more likely to be Oregon than anywhere else.

This is the third-straight year the Beaver State has earned this distinction in the United Van Lines’ annual National Movers Study.
Sixty-nine percent of moves to and from Oregon were inbound, the study found. The state has increased inbound migration by 10 percent over the past six years.
“We see quite clearly there’s a couple of big reasons: retirement and lifestyle changes,” said Michael Stoll, professor and chair of the Department of Public Policy at the University of California, Los Angeles. Stoll helped United Van Lines analyze its data.

Perhaps coincidentally (but probably not), Portland had the fifth-highest rate of increasing rent in 2015.
Two-bedroom apartments in Portland now rent for an average of $1,530, according to Apartment List, a fast-growing company based in San Francisco. Two-bedroom units in Vancouver, Wash. rent for an average of $1,100.
The average national rent increase in the last year was 3.6 percent for one-bedroom units and 2.6 percent for two-bedroom units, according to the report.
