Adidas has made a competing offer to Nike’s for exclusive-apparel rights for the Eugene School District.

Each company has offered about $300,000 in team gear.

But there are also some differences, or sweeteners. Adidas, for example, said it will offer $250 to any of the four schools that wins a league title in an Oregon School Activities Association-sanctioned sport during the life of the agreement. Adidas also will kick in $500 to any high school with a team that wins a state title during that time.

Statewide, Nike has such agreements with more than three dozen high schools, company spokesman Greg Rossiter has said. Those include schools in Banks, Brookings, Corvallis, Hillsboro, Lake Oswego and Tualatin, as well as nine Portland public high schools.
