Congratulations to Sussman Shank Partner Heather Kmetz, who was named 2015 Mentor of the Year by the Oregon State Bar Taxation Section’s New Tax Lawyer Committee (NTLC). The award is a result of the generous time and energy Heather has given to help develop tax lawyers who are young in their careers.
Heather is known for giving practical advice that includes important lessons about the business aspects of a law practice, the culture of the legal community, and substantive tax issues, including ethics and standards of practice.

Heather also continues to be active with the Oregon State Bar and was recently elected to serve as Treasurer of the 2016 Taxation Section Executive Committee, a group that supervises and controls the affairs of the Section, subject to the Section’s Bylaws and the supervision of the Oregon State Bar.
