A total of 57,621 people visited the Painted Hills from January to August this year, up from 35,803 during the same period in 2013.
[Painted Hills superintendent Shelley] Hall said the increase was due in large part to a marketing campaign by Travel Oregon, the state’s tourism bureau, which named the Painted Hills one of the state’s “seven wonders.”
