Burgerville launched beer and hard-cider service Wednesday at its Hawthorne location in Portland.

It was part of a “localized experiment” for a few Burgerville restaurants, and the company doesn’t plan to add alcohol to menus at its other 37 shops. Sara Perrin, Burgerville spokeswoman, said in June that the company only added the beverages after “direct guest requests, and the local neighborhood desires and preferences.”

Brews featured this summer at the Hawthorne Burgerville include Ninkasi Total Domination IPA, Hop Valley Sir Orange Lot Pale Ale, Worthy Brewing Easy Day Kolsch, Oakshire Overcast Espresso Stout, Rainier Lager and Bushwhacker “Alice” Hard Cider. The line-up will change to complement Burgerville’s seasonal items.

The alcoholic options are not available to-go or through the drive-thru window.
