A recent deal between Nike and a Hillsboro lessor represents the most business space rented in the Portland area this year.

Portland Business Journal first reported the agreement:

According to NAI Norris, Beggs & Simpson, Nike has signed a lease for 105,005 square feet of office space at the AmberGlen Business Center campus in Hillsboro. The campus is managed by Unico Properties. NAI Norris, Beggs & Simpson’s president Chris Johnson, senior vice president MaryKay West and vice president Brandon Frank represented the lessor, AmberGlen Office Corporation.

Nike’s lease is the third major transaction this year for AmberGlen Business Center. In March, Portland-based retailer Columbia Sportswear leased 27,379 square feet at the 1385 Building, and earlier this month Allion USA Engineering Services expanded to 52,746 square feet at Building 1365.

Hillsboro is looking to add more housing to allay commuting woes created by its booming business community.

The department said the city counted more than $554 million of new construction projects during the 2014-15 construction year. Of those, $106 million came from the addition of more than 200 single-family homes and 380 multi-family housing units.

“Our residential market has been and will continue to be strong in the coming years as construction begins in South Hillsboro, where we look to welcome up to 20,000 new residents into vibrant new neighborhoods that are complete, connected, and green,” said Melanie Adams, the city’s building department director, in a release.
