The state Department of Environmental Quality said Wednesday the association exceeded its wastewater discharge permit limits for biochemical oxygen demand, total suspended solids and bacteria, specifically E. coli. The facility discharges wastewater to a privately owned wetland. It then flows through a small creek in a golf course and into the Wilson River.
The agency also says the association violated other water quality criteria, creating slimy vegetation in the discharge area.
