The Democrat from Oregon said he will push the Equality Act of 2015 when Congress returns from recess.

On Friday, Dec. 19, he joined Oregon Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian and LGBT supporters at a press conference in Portland where he vowed to introduce the Equality Act of 2015 within the next six months, even though Republicans will have majorities in the Senate and House.

“We’ve come to realize this is a journey in pursuit of equality that has some ups and downs, that has some good days and some bad days,” Merkley said.
