The work is scheduled to be completed by March 28. Vigor beat out another bidder for the job, the Navy said.
The Mercy, commissioned in 1986, has served in the South Pacific and the Arabian Gulf. She provides medical support for U.S. military forces and also supports humanitarian assistance missions, according to the Navy. Her home port is San Diego.
