‘Bill the Butcher’ shop no longer coming to Portland

The Seattle-based sustainable meat shop announced plans to open 10 locations across the city in January.

Finance problems and misallocated funds have stopped the company’s expansion. 

On Oct. 13, The Seattle Times reported that shareholders in the company discovered they were unknowingly paying for CEO J’Amy Owens $2.25 million, 4,560-sq-ft home in the trendy Queen Anne neighborhood. 

Bill the Butcher reported in 2013 that they would begin leasing “corporate facilities” from Owens beginning in Sept. 2012 for $10,000 a month, but it was never disclosed that the funds would actually be financing her family’s home.
