A lawyer for Oregon Taxi, the area’s largest taxi company with 125 to 150 drivers, earlier accused Uber of flouting regulations when it launched in the area July 23. San Francisco-based Uber allows customers to hail a private driver using their smartphones.
Eugene city officials remained silent for weeks as they researched the issue and met with representatives from Oregon Taxi and Uber.
