The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded 29 health centers $6.5 million to expand primary care services.

The awards will enable the health centers to increase access to primary health care by hiring about 95 new staff, including providers, and to extend their hours and add services, including oral health, mental and behavioral health, pharmacy and vision.

The Affordable Care Act funding will help the centers to reach an estimated 25,546 new patients in Oregon. Across the U.S., $295 million was awarded to 1,195 health centers.
