After two years, longshore union members backed a collective bargaining agreement with several multinational grain companies.

All told, members of ILWU Local 8 in Portland, Local 4 in Vancouver, Local 21 in Longview, Local 19 in Seattle and Local 23 in Tacoma voted 88.4 percent to back the tentative agreement.

The talks had been tumultuous at times, with Local 4 members filing suit against Louis Dreyfus and United Grain in March 2013. Workers were locked out at Columbia Grain’s Portland facilities as well as Vancouver’s United Grain facilities.

Those workers will return to their jobs on Wednesday.
