CounterMedia, the 20-year-old independent book seller, is leaving its location on SW Oak Street.

Owner Charles Boucher says he’s trying to sell the store’s stock before he leaves. The lease situation wasn’t the only reason he’s shuttering CounterMedia.

“I’m closing the store because I’m tired of the grind, and because I want to take more time off, maybe even retire completely,” Boucher wrote on the store’s Facebook page. “I’m 62 and I don’t want to live at the store the rest of my life. I’ve loved owning and running it, but at a certain point, I need to move on to another adventure.”
