Sylvia and Bill Dorney announced Wednesday morning they will be quitting the renowned quilt shop after 35 years as owners and operators. Sylvia Dorney, 66, took over for her mother in 1988 as the fourth to own the business, which started with her grandfather in 1900.
“It’s an age thing,” Sylvia Dorney said. “We’re not getting any younger. Building maintenance, this work… they start to be stressful.”
