Columbia spokesman Scott Trepanier says the company discovered last year that a couple of thousand hats and gloves treated with insect repellant didn’t have labels. It voluntarily reported the problem to the Environmental Protection Agency.
Regulators said Tuesday that the clothing didn’t have required directions for use and precautionary statements. They say pesticides must be labeled properly to protect people and the environment.
