The health industry may be the first to see an economic recovery this year.

While the health industry won’t see a growth as explosive as when PeaceHealth opened its RiverBend hospital in 2008, it may still be the first to see an economic recovery this year.

The health industry managed to grow by 1% last year, adding 200 jobs.

PeaceHealth, the region’s largest private employer, does not expect to add any jobs in 2010 but it does plan to fill vacancies as they occur, spokesman Jim Godbold said…

After a difficult 2009 fiscal year, during which PeaceHealth lost $63.2 million on its operations, fiscal year 2010, which began in July, is looking up, Godbold said.
